History

The band was formed in 2002 by musical director Catherine Tackley and originally, the majority of the players came from the nationally acclaimed North Cheshire Wind Orchestra. Over time, there have been a few changes in personnel (including members leaving to have children and then rejoining a few years later) but most of the players have been with the band from the start.

Although the band is based and rehearses in Lymm, Cheshire, players come from across the North West region including Preston, Manchester, Macclesfield, Crewe, North Wales and Liverpool.

Over the last 15+ years, the band has established a profile in the region and performs regularly for weddings, parties, balls and functions. In addition, the band has a reputation for innovative programming, and in particular for performing new works and reviving historical performance styles.

The band continues to go from strength to strength, and has an increasingly busy schedule of gigs and concerts throughout the North West, covering Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and North Wales.

The band operates as a co-operative, non-profit making organisation. All of the money we earn goes back into supporting the band – from running costs such as rehearsal room hire, to purchasing equipment, music and commissioning new works and arrangements.
